Wreaths Across America is a nonprofit organization founded in 1992 by Maine businessman, Morrill Worcester, to continue and expand the annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. Their mission, “Remember, Honor, Teach,” is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies on the second Saturday of December at veterans’ cemeteries including Arlington National Cemetery and other locations in all 50 states and beyond. They also organize a week of events to spread the message about the importance of remembering our fallen heroes, honoring those who serve, and teaching our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms. If you wish to sponsor a wreath for $15, you can call Wreaths Across America at 304-422-6459. You can have it sent to one of the participating cemeteries or have it sent to our funeral home for you to pick up and place on the veteran’s grave you wish to honor.
