Bernie and Rita were two very special people to me. Their spirit will be missed, but the laughs live on. My best wishes to family and friends.

  • Dale L Sprosty

Bernie was the best mentor/boss I ever had. I know he is with Rita and will be missed by many, many people. Sympathies to the entire family. RIP Bernie!

So saddened by your loss. Grandpa Bernie was special. Loved hearing him play the slide trombone in his band. His photos were wonderful memories of his and Rita’s trips. Thinking of y’all. Dixie

  • Rona and Barry Seidel

Oh, Bernie, who will Barry call every day? You have left us with a hole in our hearts, which we will fill with cherished memories. Rita is waiting for you, as we remember our special friendship and the wonderful times spent together. Rest in peace, dear friend.

  • David Gennaro

I didn’t know Bernie well - but I played trombone with him in the Callanwolde Community Band - but enjoyed his warm, spirited and humorous nature. My prayers are with him and his family as the grieve his loss.

  • Rick Bell

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Bernie for years when I was rehearsing The Sentimental Journey Orchestra. Bernie was a great guy and a fine trombone player. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the funeral, but my prayers are with his family in their loss.

  • Cynthia Bornemann

Oh Bernie, I will miss you every time Vinci and I meet for dinner here at VP. You made me laugh every single day. I only wish I had told you how much our talks meant to me and how respectful you always were when I was late - which happened alot. I'm so grateful God put you in my life - especially at this very difficult time for me. My only regret is not getting to know Rita better. I'm sure we would've all been friends. It makes me happy though to know you two are finally together again,

  • Ed Feldstein

I am so sorry about the mamily's loss. Bernie was fine gentleman and a loyal member of Encore.

  • Bill Redgate

Bernie was such a great person. Yes he played trombone, but what I loved about him is he didn't obsess like so many others. He had a life and was willing to share it with me. He was one of those guys who renew your faith in humanity as he was eminently human - most of the good bits of humanity anyway. He will be missed. Peachy and I send condolences to all.

  • Harold Smith

I would like to express my condolences to the family of Bernie Tuvlin whom I played Trombone with in the Callenwolde Concert Band during the early 1990’s and again from 2001 through 2011. He was a good friend and a great Trombone player. May he rest in peace.

  • Janet L. Sugarman

I'm so sorry to read about both Bernie's and Rita's deaths. I haven't seen either of them since Rita's mother lived at the Cohen Home. They were a lovely family. and the community will miss them. h

Bernie, Cynthia and I were a close triangle. Cynthia jokingly would call him a curmudgeon. When he would be in conversations with our friends he would say"huh"and I would jokingly say "you need hearing aids" we were lik e a comedy act. We all laughed and did things together. He did not like living in "an old folks home". We will miss you Bernie ?

  • Meta Miller

So sorry for your loss. What a nice man Bernie was, as was Rita.

  • Warren Abrahams

Shock can only express my feelings alongside my tears. Bernie and I have known one another for more than 25 years. Bernie was the Calkanwolde Concert Band's principal Bass trombone player (for which that chair should be named in his memory) and Treasurer Emeritus "Guido" who ensured all member's dues were paid on time 30 days net. Bernie and Rita z"l were a TEAM. Bernie performed, Rita offered her critics commentary. Knowing Bernie, he was not going to permit Rita to spend her birthday and certainly not their anniversary apart again this year. Bernie you were a mensch and a passionate musician. You and Rita have been reunited eternally. I will miss our friendship, bantering and your curmudgeon personality. You were genuine. Rest in Peace, your name will and always been for a blessing unto all who have met you.?
