  • OBITUARY

Audrey Nathan (Fisher), 87, Atlanta, Georgia

    04/23/1936 – 6/27/2023

Audrey was born in East London, South Africa to Cecil and Amelia Fisher, the youngest sister to the late Bella (Monty) Nick, Dennis (Sandy) Fisher and Sybil (Gerald) Shapiro.  She met the love of her life, the late Barry Nathan, in East London, subsequently settling in Port Elizabeth where she and Barry formed wonderful, long-lasting friendships, and raised their three children, Lawrence, Charles and Jody, prior to emigrating first to London and then to the United States in 1980.

Family was the most important aspect of Audrey’s life.  Her love and commitment to family stemmed from her childhood experiences growing up in a religious home.  She lost her father when she was ten years old, and she watched her mother raise four children on her own.  This family dynamic helped shape her focus on family and Audrey developed an exceptionally strong rapport with her mother and close and enduring relationships with her two sisters and her brother.

Audrey was a kind, thoughtful, and selfless person, who was a loving and devoted wife, a wonderful mother to Lawrence (Michelle), Charles (Robyn), and Jody (Eric). Her love extended to their respective spouses, embracing them as one of her own, and nothing would elicit greater happiness and pleasure than seeing or talking to one of her grandchildren, Geoffrey, Alec, Ruthie, Mallory, Amelia, and Allistair.  She was a committed friend to many and always went above and beyond to make everyone around her feel welcomed and loved. Audrey is also survived by her brother, Dennis, her sister, Sybil, and loving nieces and nephews in South Africa, England and Israel.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 30th at 10:30 am at Crestlawn Cemetery, arranged by Dressler’s Jewish Funeral Care.

Memorial contributions may be made to Jewish Home Life or Weinstein Hospice.
