OBITUARY
Klingensmith (Isaacson) Dorothy Gail "DG"DG, age 70, of Dunwoody, GA, passed away Sunday evening, March 5, 2023, at Emory University Hospital surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on November 8, 1952, in Columbus, GA, to the late Dr. Herschel and Pauline Isaacson. DG was the wife of Bob (Bear) Klingensmith and mother of Dani Klingensmith. She graduated from Northside High School in Atlanta and attended the University of Tennessee. She earned a bachelor's degree from Georgia State University and a master's degree from Georgia Washington University. Following employment with Eastern Airlines, DG began a very rewarding and fulfilling career as a teacher in both the Cobb and DeKalb counties school system. Recognized as a dedicated and caring teacher, DG retired from Kingsley Elementary School in Dunwoody following 20 years of service. She was known for her laughter, fierce devotion to family and friends, and unwavering bravery. DG could often be found dancing along to Barbra Streisand tunes, finding the best deals around Atlanta, laughing uncontrollably with her little sister, Nancy, relaxing on various beaches along the East Coast, rooting for the Georgia Bulldogs and Belmont Abbey Crusaders, or enjoying the activities at Rivermont Golf Club. She was a devoted wife and mother who always put family first. Her kindness, compassion, and generosity touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by Bear and Dani, her siblings Bobby (Nancy) Isaacson, Dr. Keith Isaacson, and Nancy (Brian) Gunter, her cousins, nieces, nephews, and colleagues. She will be forever loved and remembered. Thanks for the countless memories, DG! The funeral and burial services will be on Tuesday, March 7, at 10:30 AM at Greenwood Cemetery, 1173 Cascade Cir SW, in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cure HHT 8 Henderson Hill Ct, Monkton, MD 21111 and https://curehht.org/. Arrangements by Dressler's Jewish Funeral Care, 770-451-4999. Shiva will be held at 4633 Vermack Place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Howard and I were so saddened to hear of DGs passing. We both have such wonderful memories growing up with the Isaacsons in the MM neighborhood. She was always so sweet; a bright light out way too soon. We send our sincerest condolences to the whole family.

I was so sad to hear of Mrs Klingensmith's passing. I used to joke with her every day we worked by saying I was trying to beat her to school as we both parked in the handicapped space and she would always arrive before me. One day I arrived before her and I could not wait to run in and say hahahahah I beat you but she had taken off that day. When she returned to work the following day we laughed so hard, she said Jackson the only way you going to beat me is if I'm absent. She was such a beautiful person inside and out. I will miss her smile and advice. After I had Covid I didn't have an appetite and she shared with me to try Ensure fruit flavored drinks and I still drink those to this day. I will miss you Mrs Klingensmith's.

I was saddened to hear the news about Mrs. Klingensmith's passing. I often think about our time teaching ELA and diagramming sentences when she taught 5th grade at Kingsley. When I began my first year teaching and in the TAPP program, I taught with her and the 5th grade team. We taught social studies, and she was very helpful - not only encouraging me along the way but she was open to me using strategies I learned in the TAPP program with the class. I really enjoyed working and learning from her.

DG was one of the first people I met in 1974 when I moved into Tempo Horizon off of Plaster Road / Buford Highway. She and her roommate Debbie were great neighbors and always fun to be around. Her family was always welcoming and friendly to newcomers. Although I had lost contact over the years , both Deb and myself want to send our sincere condolences to all of the Family and may she rest in peace.

I cannot recall a day in my life since I was born that I didn’t know DeeGee. Her parents and my parents were very close friends while I was growing up. Pauline, DeeGee’s mom, and my mom Betty Ann were the closest of friends. Her father Herschel was my dentist for many years. The Isaacson family were an important in our family’s lives. For a number of years DeeGee and I were next door neighbors. We extend our condolences to the entire family.
