Margot Pearlman of Valdosta, died on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at her home. Margot was born on November 23, 1923, in Bochum, Germany to the late George and Gertrude Levy. She and her parents came to the United States in 1935 and settled in Atlanta, GA. In 1947, Margot became a resident of Valdosta after she married William J. (Bill) Pearlman, her late husband of 61 years.
Margot was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an active community member as part of the Crescent Valdosta Garden Center, the Book Review Club, the Turner Center for the Arts, Temple Israel, and the Hadassah Sisterhood. For many years, she volunteered with Break Bread Together. In 1995, Margot and Bill, along with Sidney and Dorothy Pearlman worked to establish the Pearlman Comprehensive Cancer Center at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Bruce and Wendy Pearlman of Atlanta, son and daughter-in-law Scott and Jan Pearlman of Atlanta, grandchildren Greg and Laura Soshnik of Atlanta, Brad and Sarah Soshnik of Valdosta, Allison and Jason Molinari of Atlanta, and Jennifer Pearlman of Atlanta. Great grandchildren include Allan and Ben Soshnik, Julia and Evelyn Soshnik, Sophia and William Molinari, and Harper Cosgrove. Margot was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Allan Soshnik.
A graveside funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Rabbi Moshe Elbaz officiated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Temple Israel, 511 Baytree Rd, Valdosta, GA 31602, Pearlman Comprehensive Cancer Center, 209 Pendleton Dr., Valdosta, GA 31602 or to Break Bread Together, PO Box 1094, Valdosta, GA 31603-1094.
