OBITUARY
Philip “Phil” Stahlman, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2023 at the age of 86, surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of Rhoda for 57 years and the proud father of Jill (Stephanie) Stahlman, Dr. Jon (Beth) Stahlman, Kim (Jay Ezrielev) Stahlman, and Kevin Stahlman, and the beloved "Papa Phil" of Carli, Brandon, Samantha, Julia, Isabella, Boaz, Rachel, Sarah, Mateo, and Rain, and most recently the great grandfather of Nora Belle. Phil was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers Sam and Howard.
Phil grew up in Far Rockaway, New York and was proud to serve his country in the US Navy. After moving to Atlanta, Phil attended Georgia State University and was successful in a range of businesses, including Smyrna Lighting and Electrical Supply, Phil's Finders, and At Home with Paws and Claws. An avid reader, history enthusiast, and follower of current events, Phil was known for his engaging conversation, wide-ranging knowledge, sense of humor, and ability to connect with people. Everyone was friends with Phil.
A lover of dogs, Phil was happiest having a furry companion by his side. Phil also enjoyed volunteering with Happy Tails Pet Therapy where he brought dogs to visit nursing home residents.
He particularly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and was an early member of Temple Sinai and attended the Temple Sinai Men's Club. His kind and generous spirit, quick wit, and love for his family and friends will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on January 5 at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Phil's memory to Happy Tails Pet Therapy, Temple Sinai Atlanta or a charity of your choice.
