OBITUARY
Richard Wallack, beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and cousin, died peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 26.Rich was passionate about sports, especially when it came to the New York Yankees and the Jets. He loved wearing his jerseys and playfully talking smack about the Atlanta and Boston teams. He also loved playing sports. As a kid, he roamed the neighborhood, playing street hockey. Later, he enjoyed wheelchair basketball and rugby. He also adored animals of all kinds, caring for various reptiles and amphibians in addition to family pets before training with his beloved Canine Assistant, Ebbett.Rich graduated from Dunwoody High School and Valdosta State University. He suffered from a rare disease, Late Onset Tay-Sachs. Despite his constant physical pain, his incredible spirit always shined through. He never missed a family member’s birthday or special occasion, and remained positive and thoughtful toward others regardless of whatever he was going through. He is survived by Eileen & Larry Gold, siblings Sandy (& Rachel) Wallack and Sara (& Brandon) Friedman, as well as loving nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles & cousins. Rich was preceded in death by his father Matthew Wallack.Donations may be made to the Late Onset Tay-Sachs Foundation (ntsad.org), Canine Assistants (canineassistants.org) or Shepherd Center Foundation recreation therapy program (foundation.shepherd.org/areas-of-need/).

Where do I begin? My name is Glen Flowers and was a good friend of Richard. We met in high school and stayed friends and in touch for many years after that. I remember cruising around in his black Cutlass on Saturday nights in Dunwoody. We went to Spring Break twice together at old Daytona Beach. Years later Richard would be one of my Groomsman at my wedding. He was absolutely one of my go to guys. I worked in Atlanta and would stop by his apartment in the high rise on Peachtree and talk mostly about sports, he loved his Jets and even the Knicks along with the Yankees. He came over a couple of times when I was living in Dallas with my wife and two kids. We definitely talked about how we were getting older what was going on in our lives. Never did i hear him complain about his condition and he didn't give any indication how much pain he was in. He. was one tough son of a gun. He was courageous. He went out to California for a job . Didn't have a place to stay and did not know anybody. He did it alone but I was glad when he came back to Georgia. He loved his dog Ebbett for sure, around me, he thought the world of him/her. He was so nice to my kids when they were little. I will sorely miss him but I will always have my memories. My condolences go out to Eileen, Sandy and Sara. I am truly sorry for your loss. We know Rich is in a good place and we can only celebrate his life that he shared with us. Hopefully the mourning has passed. I am sorry for the delayed message. I wanted to share my memories of him cause I really did love the guy.

I remember how much Rich loved to shop and always looked so sharp. He had many passions, including his interest in reptiles. His every need and whim was attended to by Eileen, Matt and then Larry. Eileen was the advocate we all would want. She fought for his rights, comfort and care. While Richard did not deserve such a dreadful syndrome; he is now at peace, rested and grateful.

Eileen, you poured your heart, soul and energy into giving Richard as much as humanly possible, providing as much comfort possible that Richard could have had.
