  • OBITUARY

Jerome Miller (Jerry) passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

Jerry was born in Passaic, New Jersey on March 26, 1936, his parents’ first-born child – Gertrude Miller Starley (z’l) and Harry Miller (z’l). The family moved to Newark, New Jersey where his beloved sister Carol Miller Brecher (z’l) was born in 1939.  Both of his parents worked outside of the home to make ends meet, and Jerry devotedly and dutifully looked after his younger sister Carol, forging a deep and loving bond that lasted their entire lifetimes.

Jerry was very athletic, playing baseball and basketball during his youth, high school and college years. During his childhood and teen years, he spent his summers in Bradley Beach, New Jersey along with Carol and their extensive network of cousins and friends. There he developed his lifelong love for the seashore.

Jerry graduated from Weequahic High School in Newark, New Jersey in June 1954. He then went on to Rutgers College in Newark, New Jersey where he majored in Accounting, graduating in 1958.  After serving domestically in the United States Armed Forces, he became a Certified Public Accountant.

Jerry married his first wife Dolores in 1963, and their only son David was born a few years later. After his divorce, he married his second wife Linda in the mid-1970’s and then relocated to the Atlanta, Georgia area. Jerry immediately fell in love with his new home and became a fiercely proud Georgian.  He initially settled in Norcross, Georgia, and subsequently moved to Duluth, Georgia, Marietta, Georgia and Powder Springs, Georgia. He was a Vice President of the John Smith Chevrolet dealership in Smyrna, Georgia until his retirement.

After divorcing his second wife Linda, he married his beloved wife Mary in 1996. Together, they enjoyed their retirement years, taking several trips to many different destinations around the United States, and one very memorable trip to Paris, France. He was also very proud to become a grandfather to his two grandsons, Noah Miller and Jonah Miller.

Jerry is pre-deceased by his beloved wife Mary Miller, his sister Carol Brecher, and his parents, Gertrude Miller Starley and Harry Miller. He is survived by his son, David Miller (Robin), his stepdaughters Kathy Wijsmuller (Peer), Melanie Long (Bill) and Susan Nash (Ray), his grandsons Noah Miller and Jonah Miller, and several loving step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Jerry will be fondly remembered and will be deeply missed.
