OBITUARY
Peter Anastasios Biris, 73, passed away in Chicago, IL on May 28, 2022.
Peter came from Greece to the U.S. in the late 60’s where he attended the University of Illinois at Chicago. He worked in hospitality for many years at the Cape Cod Room, Ritz-Carlton Chicago, Hyatt Regency Chicago, Palmer House Hilton, and Sheraton Chicago. He gave 1000% to his clients, always going the extra mile and made everything personal, earning him the compliment of “legendary” from many meeting planners. While known as the consummate professional in his career, Peter gave even more of himself personally to his friends and family. He loved visiting his family with Cathy in Greece each summer, and he was a friend to everyone, no matter what their walk in this life. Whether talking politics with friends, cooking up a gourmet meal for them or sending a thoughtful card, Peter embraced everyone close to him.
Peter is survived by his wife, Cathy Dunn Biris, daughter of the late Joan and David Dunn and brother, Robert, niece of Donald Reisman and the late Shirley Reisman of Atlanta; his sister, Kathi Karpouzos and her husband, Nikos; his nephews, Dimitris Karpouzos and Tasos Karpouzos; and his grandnephew, Nikolas Karpouzos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eftihia Lalou Biris and Anastasios Biris.
Burial services will be private for the immediate family, but a celebration of Peter’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, kindly donate in his memory to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society or The Anti Cruelty Society of Chicago.
