I am shocked and saddened that Mike is no longer here. We had a wonderful visit in person just days before Passover and I shall remember his optimistic view on life. He has been a great friend and I enjoyed our visits before covid at the kiddushes B'nai Torah. I hope the entire family will remember the many joys you gave him. He will be missed by the family and the many people that called him a friend. You added so much to our lives and I am thankful for your guidance of adding PAS to my life. May your memory always be for a blessing.

So saddened to hear the unexpected news of the passing of long-time friend, Michael. From years and years ago at Beth David in Miami, I remember Mike’s playing a role in shul-business, and have been so pleased to refresh our friendship in the pews at Bnai Torah so many lifetimes later. Will miss his presence but cherish the memories. ???

Michael Exelbert has been a dear and trusted friend of the Kaplan family for many years, having first met him at a United Synagogue convention in Miami Florida wherein he proved his outstanding leadership skills by serving on several panels dealing with identifying, recruiting and maintaining synagogue leadership. He was an enthusiastic and avid supporter of Conservative Judaism in all of its aspects and rose to regional and national positions of leadership by earning the respect and admiration of all around him. Michael was in every respect a “Shul Jew” and during his entire adult life, advocated and promoted the concept that “the synagogue is the central address of the Jewish people”. His memory will serve as an eternal blessing to all who were honored and privileged to know and love him.
