Bernie Eisenstein died December 20, 2021 in Atlanta. He was born June 20, 1946 in Vancouver, B.C. to Marion and Israel Eisenstein. Bernie graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology and completed the course in the Hotel and Restaurant Management at Cornell University. He worked in Montreal at The Queen Elizabeth Hotel and at the Dan Hotel in Israel.

Bernie moved to Atlanta in 1971 to manage the Spaghetti Emporium in Underground Atlanta and enjoyed a successful career in the restaurant and food distribution business.

He made many contributions to his community. Most noteworthy was his volunteer service as Deputy Sheriff in both Cobb and Fulton counties. At the top of his volunteer accomplishment was the founding and implementation of a holiday party for Atlanta’s Special Citizens for almost 50 years.

Bernie leaves his wife, Susan, his children Steven (Lynne), Caren (Eric Adler), and Richard (Diane), six grandchildren (Seth, Elly, Marin, Stella and Jacob Adler and Zoe Eisenstein) and his brother, Nathan of Victoria, B.C. He was a member of Temple Sinai, the Jewish Community Center and North Atlanta Men’s Club.  Private funeral services will take place Thursday, December 23 at 10:30 am and may be viewed via Zoom (see link above).  Donations in Bernie’s memory may be made to Temple Sinai or the charity of one’s choice.

I hope I told you enough how great you've made our lives, and how much I love you. You loved us all fiercely and gave us everything you had to give. We often talked about Woodward, Blue Star, Israel, College, Grad school, and I think we left out cars and houses with which you helped us! Those were all the experiences of a lifetime which contributed to our futures. You left us without any financial debt, but we were always indebted to you. Thank you for your legacy of giving to others and always bringing a smile and joy to a scene. What you've given will be shared and your goodness spread throughout our lifetimes. It's been four weeks an this side of life without you, and trust me- it's not as sunny and happy- but we'll carry on as you'd want us to. Love you forever and ever.

I was sorry to hear of Bernie's passing. We enjoyed many games of racquetball at the Concourse Athletic Club in Atlanta and later at LA Fitness. I had the pleasure of participating in one of his Holiday Party celebrations a few years ago. We were both cancer survivors and he was a generous contributor to my annual American Cancer Society fundraiser. Praying for Susan and the family during this time of bereavement.

I first met Bernie when I was a food service salesman for CFS. He was-let's say agressive and asked why are you working for them. Later one of my customers needed a Purchasing Agent for a Hotel and I took the job. And there was another Capitol Foods salesman handling the account and I said its Bernie or another company. I had gotten to know Bernie somewhat and knew he was at the top of the list of food service salesman in Atlanta. And he educated me in so many areas. Later we decided to sell restaurants together and I've never known anyone who could juggle so many things at one time. But most importantly he was a Mensch and did so much for the community. Sending condolences to all of the family..
