310 Quiet Water Lane, Atlanta, GA 30350

Richard David Goldstein of Sandy Springs, Georgia passed away unexpectedly from a very brief illness on December 4, 2021, surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Rick graduated from the University of South Florida earning a degree in Marketing. He used that degree to build Wolfstein’s Pro Series, a manufacturing and distribution company for after-market car care products sold across the United States and Europe. One of his proudest moments was the day his son, Spencer Goldstein, joined the company as his partner.

Rick was a very personable, outgoing man who seized every opportunity to genuinely know and understand the people he met. He loved to travel, particularly in China, and spent a great deal of time learning about the culture and customs of every country he visited. He took tremendous pleasure in taking his children on many of these trips to teach them appreciation of the joys of the journey. Rick was a consummate cook and grill master. He was both a barbecue judge and a cook participant who traveled the Southeast with his partner, Robin Bowles, under the team name, “Just Blowing Smoke.” Rick and Robin competed for, and won, many 1st and 2nd place trophies. Rick also actively participated with the Atlanta Kosher Barbecue Festival providing judges and supervising the contest.

Above all else, Rick loved his wife, Lisa, his children, Spencer and Sara, his family, and his many friends. He will be so deeply missed by all of them.

Rick was pre-deceased by his father, Martin Goldstein, from Atlanta, Georgia.

He is survived by his mother, Bettye Goldstein; his wife, Lisa Segall-Goldstein; his beloved daughter, Sara Goldstein, with whom he had a special bond; his beloved son, Spencer Goldstein (Kristen Palsson); his brothers Steve Goldstein (Debbie) and Ronnie Goldstein (Barbara); and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lifeline Animal Project (3180 Presidential Drive, Atlanta, GA 30340) or the charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, December 8th at Dressler's Jewish Funeral Care Chapel, 3734 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd., Atlanta, GA 30341 with Rabbi Laurence Rosenthal officiating. The funeral will be streamed via Zoom.  To view the link and to sign the online guestbook, visit  Dressler’s, 770-451-4999.

December 24, 2021 The Rick Goldstein Family 310 Quite Water Lane Atlanta, GA 30350 Dear Lisa, Spencer and Sara, Jean and I were very saddened to learn of Rick’s passing. He was one of our favorite members of the BBQ Family and we always looked forward to seeing and being with him he always brought a bolt of sunshine into every visit. He was such a treasure to be around and to hear him talk about his love for the family and how proud he was of you. We meet so very few Rick Goldstein’s in life that we must cherish these people because they share the joys of life thru their actions and actions with others. Jean and I were truly blessed to have Rick as a friend. When I called him and said RAGTOP he always knew who was on the phone. Your family will always be in our prayers. Jean and Cary Bond

I knew Rick for many years before I start doing business with him, we met every year at SEMA show and talk for a long time about everything, especially different foods and cultures. I am still in shock and disbelief! I miss my very good and genuine friend. My deepest condolences to Spencer and Goldstein family.

To know Rick was a blessing, he was full of life, love, and positivity. I feel honored to have known him for so many years and spent time with him, he made the world a better place. Randomly I would get boxes of candy delivered with no name attached to them, but I always knew who sent them. He was supportive, caring and loving to all that met him. Everyone that knew Rick will have a hole left in their heart from him passing, mostly the family he loved and adored. He is the only person I know that would call me and talk forever about absolutely nothing, but when I would get off the phone, I would feel like my day was brighter! Big Hugs to you Rick, thank you for sharing your time on this earth with all of us!

We are the new across the street neighbors and have loved Rick from the day we moved in! He was so kind and warm, his lovely doggies took on very well with ours. We'd have morning walks, with the kids and talk about life. He especially liked to hear about how our son was doing in middle school wrestling. He was such a dear, dear man and he will be missed, truly. Our hearts go out to Lisa, Sara and Spencer. If there is anything we can do for you, anytime, please reach out.

What can I say about Rick, he has always been the one with the most radiant and powerful smile in every event I saw him at ( BBQ competition). My prayers are with the family for Peace and Comfort. Rick was such a powerful presence and I remember his coined phrase when I first met him “ no pork on my fork”. He was a friend, a confidante and a great ambassador for things he believed in. May his memory forever be with his family and friends.

We are shocked and saddened to hear about losing Rick. Rick was always one of the friendliest and happiest people we've ever known. Our condolences are with Rick's family and friends. I was a 'double neighbor' of Rick's as we shared both a subdivision and an office park -- I will surely miss seeing Rick around the neighborhood and talking with him on his walks around the office with his pup.

I'll always miss Rick dearly. He, like Spencer said, was always the life of the party. I'll never forget when i made a last minute trip from Kansas City to Atlanta (driving) back in early 2020 pre-covid. My sister, Kristen, didn't expect me and couldn't host me. So Rick hosted me. We sat down at night and had a few glasses of whiskey on the rocks. We cracked jokes and told stories for a few hours before i went to bed. I will always cherish those moments with him, and will miss him dearly.

I was stunned to get Rob Stearn's phone with the tragic news of Rick's passing. How do you put into words the meaning of a professional and personal friendship with one of kind like Rick Goldstein? I was privileged to compete against him at Storer Broadcasting.........lucky to have him be my Sales manager when I ran the HRP rep office.....Shared the ups and downs of being a Falcon season ticket holder that were mostly bad old days......but having him as my guest to fly to Tampa with the team and see them beat the Bucs in November 2012. Whenever we had a mutual trip to Nashville we always made at stop to see Bettye his Mom! Rick always looked for the next opportunity in life and I am lucky to have been his business Cabalero and friend. God love ya Rick My thoughts and prayers go out to Bettye, Lisa, Sara and Spencer..............He was a mensch.

Goldstein Family: Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Rick earlier this month. Needless to say it was a shock to me and all in the detail industry. First met Rick when he contacted me to get my opinion on how to market his products to the detail industry. That began an over 30 year relationship that I will always treasure. My prayers for Rick and your family. With Deepest Sympathy, Bud Abraham

I met Rick at a trade show in Las Vegas with one of his best buddies Sy just the year before the pandemic hit. Rick was so kind and generous I vowed I would come to visit him the following year when I had planned to visit my nephew in Atlanta. It was not meant to be but in my heart, he will be forever remembered. My deepest and sincere condolences to his family. Rest in peace Rick. You are gone way too soon.

Rick was a special person who valued friendships and treated everyone like family. He and my oldest brother Larry of blessed memory had a special friendship that Rick carried with him his entire life. I would call Rick to catch-up and he never failed to mention Larry and share a memory of their teenage years. It was always comforting and brought a smile to my face. Thank you Rick. You will be missed by all. Love, Mindy and Danny

Lisa Sara and Spencer – Words can’t express what profound sadness Ellen and I feel for your loss. It is one of the most shocking things to have happened in a time where we have become used to shocking things. I don’t remember the date or the place I first met Rick. But I can tell you exactly what he said. I mentioned in passing that I was from Lumberton, NC. Rick stopped, cocked his head, put his finger on his chin and said “Lumberton. That’s southeastern North Carolina. You guys use a vinegar-based sauce on your BBQ.” I knew then and there I had a friend for life. I am going to miss his calls of where to find the best brisket deals, our debates on the perfect fat to meat ratio, and above all his patient guidance on how best to make the elusive burnt end.

Lisa, I'm so very sorry to hear this news. Even though it's been many years, I am simply devasted to hear the news of Rick's passing. I have the fondest memories of our early days in the TV spot world...Rick was as fine a competitor as there was....who would then become a friend. Big hugs to you and your children. Dear Lisa & all of Rick's beautiful family members, I was so sad today to hear of Rick's passing. My condolences to you all. I have such wonderful memories of Rick and your entire family when you came to visit Bettye so often. She would light up when Rick and you all came. And Rick knew how much I loved dogs and brought his sweet doggie to visit and let me play with him while I worked the front desk. I took this photo during one of their visits and I want to share it with you. And, ironically, I just made a donation yesterday to Lifeline, so now it's even more meaningful. I know he will live on in your hearts and he'll be watching over you always.

Having known Rick from our first years in college and continuing that friendship for another 47 years I can say without the slightest hesitation that he was "the best of the best". We were more than friends. We were intimates, brothers. The ease with which we connected was so special. He brought humor and joy to my life. Rick was so important to us all. He kept us all connected and I am going to miss the easy way we talked and the beautiful bond we had. The honest truth is that he was very loved by all of us and we all share a loss that cannot ever be replaced. What are we going to do without him? I love you brother and my heart is broken.

Rick has been a customer of ours for over 18 years. I never considered Rick as a customer but as a good friend. I was shocked at the news of Rick's passing yesterday. My thoughts and prayers to the family. Rick was a kind and giving person and will be missed by all that knew him

Dear Goldstein family, As sales manager for The Haartz Corporation (now retired) I had the distinct pleasure of working with Rick for almost 20 years. In all that time I found Rick to be passionate about his work as well as his customers and business colleagues like myself. We shared many laughes and good times as well as challenges during our business relationship. Through it all, Rick was a friend who could always be counted on. I will miss his sense of humor, professionalism but most of all, his friendship. Rest in peace, my friend.
