May the memories of our loved ones remain for a blessing.

To Carole and extended Goodfriend family and to Perry's close friends, My sympathy and condolences to you. I remember Perry fondly from my time with him at shul and Hebrew Academy and maybe in other instances and youth groups where we may have been together. I liked him a lot. From what so many have written, he was a wonderful man. May his neshama rise in the heights of heaven, may his memory be a blessing and may you be comforted among the mourners of Tzion.

It is with sadness that we learn of the passing of the last of the original Goodfriend family that came to Atlanta in the 1960s for Isaac to become the cantor at Ahavath Achim Synagogue. They made an indelible impact on the Atlanta Jewish community. May his memory be for a blessing.

Perry and Carole have become very loving dear friends of ours after we met when they moved in two doors down. We immediately enjoyed each other’s company and planned activities together. Perry touched our lives in so many ways and we will dearly miss him his smile and laughter! He was fascinating, passionate, loving, and caring. Our condolences to his entire family!! We know he will be missed but know he touched so many lives and therefore his legacy will live on as so many of the those he has touched remember his smile and kindness. I know we will cherish the time we had with him! May the happy memories bring a smile to the hearts of all those he touched!!

Sweet Perry entered my life when I married his Bogota cousin, Wolf Kohn. Wolf treasures the memories of the Goodfriends’ annual visits to Colombia, where his mother, Hilda Kerpel de Kohn and her beloved cousin Isaac Goodfriend would share the joy of the families they were building in the Americas, after the devastation of so many of their loved ones, so recently, in Europe. Perry has shared our simchas; he traveled many miles to dance at our children’s bar mitzvahs and weddings. When I embarked on a project involving writing a friend’s memoir, I turned to Perry for advice. He gave it, wisely and patiently and with good humor and love, based on his masterly work on his father Isaac’s memoir, By Fate or By Faith. For me, Perry will always be smiling in a circle of joy.

I just found out about Perry's passing and I am shocked and saddened to say the least. Perry was a Loving, Kind, and Caring Soul! I had the Blessing to travel the world with him, and we shared many experiences over 8 years. Although we grew apart, and came from different backgrounds, there was always Love and Respect between us, and with those whom he knew. To Carole and the family and friends of Perry, I send Love and Condolences. R.I.P. Perry B. Goodfriend

We carpooled with the Goodfriends to Yeshiva High School. Perry had a great sense of humor and a artistic talent. There’s a great picture of Perry and Rabbi Estreicher sitting on a high stack of chairs. They were studying Gamara at Thursday night seder. I’m glad I had the chance to know Perry and sad to learn of his passing. My condolences to the Goodfriend meeshpaucha.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I recall when The Goodfriends arrived at A.A. Perry was the youngest, cutest and energetic son ever. And when I arrived for Jr. Congregation he was always in the lobby to greet me for some reason then took off all over the building and somehow I was the only one who Mr. Resin caught. But he grew up to have so many friends, successful in business and loved by all..

With shock, dismay and sadness we learned of Perry‘s most untimely passing. The youngest son of Chazzan Isaac and Chazzanit Betty Goodfriend, and younger brother of Mark and David Goodfriend, he combined the old world Menschlacheit, elegance and grace of his beloved and well known parents and the charm and generosity of his older brothers, Mark and David, in creating his own unique, magnetic, generous, compassionate and engaging personality that brightened up every room he entered and put a smile on the face of everyone he encountered. Perry was a classmate of my younger brothers and sister at The Hebrew Academy of Atlanta and our parents often lovingly recalled carpooling him to school and being entertained by his youthful exuberance. Perry shared with his brothers the deep Jewish scholarship and intense love of and commitment to Judaism that he inherited from his parents and developed his own witty, humorous and even entertaining way of transmitting that scholarship to others. This loss creates a hole in the hearts and souls of so many of us who watched him grow up here in Atlanta and grew to know, love, admire and respect him so much. His memory will serve as a blessing to all of us.
