John Sherman McDaid, 75, beloved husband, father,

peacefully at his Marietta home surrounded by family on
August 24, 2021. He was born on January 14, 1946, in
Charleston, South Carolina to Mary Charlotte Sherman
McDaid and Neil Joseph McDaid. His funeral was held at
Greenwood Cemetery on August 26, 2021, with Rabbi
    Rosenthal officiating.

Sherman enlisted in the Army in 1964, served in
Vietnam and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal in
1967. He graduated from The Citadel as the youngest
veteran student in 1971. Sherman retired from a
career in the Federal Housing Administration in 1996.

Sherman was a founding board member of the City of
Roswell, Georgia’s Vietnam War Memorial, “The Faces
of War” monument, which draws the largest Memorial
Day observance in the State of Georgia.

Sherman is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marcia
Kaplan McDaid, their daughter, Michelle of Longmont,
Colorado, his son, Sherman Jr., three grandchildren,
Kristen, Ashten and John, four great-grandchildren,
and sister, Mary Carol Murray, all of South Carolina.
He is also survived by his sisters- and brothers-in-law,
Mary and Gil Cohen, Jeannie and Bob Tepper, many
nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sherman was an avid reader and life-long learner. He
enjoyed and was knowledgeable about all kinds of
music. Most important to him was spending time with
his family and celebrating their special occasions.

Outgoing and charismatic, he was blessed with
numerous close friends, many since childhood and he
    never met a stranger.

The funeral was a private gathering for family members only.
