    Obituary for Arnold Perlman, z”l

Arnold Sanford Perlman passed away at home after a short battle with cancer on June 22, 2021. Arnold was born on December 21, 1937 to Sophie and Simon Perlman in Savannah, GA.

Arnold graduated from Georgia Tech with a BS in Mechanical Engineering, where he was a member of the AEPi fraternity. He earned a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Southern California, and held an MBA from Georgia State University. After graduating from Georgia Tech, he worked in the defense industry before working for IBM as a Systems Engineer until retirement.

Arnold was a storyteller extraordinaire and was known for his sense of humor and making people laugh – especially his family. He cruised the world with his loving wife, Eileen, and took great pride and joy in his grandchildren. He was an avid college football spectator and looked forward to going to the AEPi fraternity house each year at the Georgia Tech homecoming game. He loved the beach, especially Tybee Island.

Arnold had a passion for the entire process of grocery shopping, from researching ads, making lists, cutting coupons, and finally making the rounds at several stores each week to provide for the household.

Arnold is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eileen Little Perlman, children Sheri Novick (Steve), Michelle Horesh (Joseph z”l), Scott Perlman (Caroline), grandchildren Joshua Novick, Stacy and Maya Horesh, and Ruthie and Leah Perlman, and his sister Harriet Karlin (John Nowell).

Donations can be made in his memory to Congregation Beth Shalom, the Weinstein Hospice, or a charity of your choice.

Funeral Services will be held at Arlington cemetery on Thursday, June 24 at 2:00. Shiva will be held at the home of Michelle Horesh (795 Glenairy Drive, Sandy Springs, GA) on Thursday at 6:30 and an open house on Friday from 2:00-5:00.
