Florence Cohen Leaf passed away on May 3, 2021, at 90 years of age. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Victor S. Leaf.

Florence was a native Atlantan who always lived in the city she loved. She was a lifetime member of Congregation Shearith Israel and was proud that her father Hyman Cohen was instrumental in its beginnings. She was pre-deceased by her father and mother, as well as her sister Pearl and brother Alvin.

Florence left college at Georgia State to marry the love of her life, Victor. She began her career in sales at Davison’s Department Store in millinery, and while raising her family she spent many years in the giftware industry. She was a familiar face at the Atlanta Merchandise Mart, representing numerous giftware lines. She truly enjoyed working with people from all over the country, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren and their friends – just enjoying life.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children Steven & Andrea Leaf, Jodye & Gary Darwin, Bruce Leaf, and Stuart & Wendy Leaf, and her sister-in-law, Rachelle Leaf Berliner. She is also survived by her much-loved grandchildren Scott Leaf, Michael Leaf, Grant & Elizabeth Darwin, Lane Darwin and his fiancé Madison Zinsenheim, Brian & Sara Leaf, Morgan Leaf, Zachary Leaf, and Jamie Leaf, as well as her adored great-grandsons Brooks Leaf and Baker Leaf. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of family and friends, are also among those who loved her.

Graveside services will be held at Crest Lawn Memorial Park on Thursday, May 6th at 2:30p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Congregation B’nai Torah or Congregation Shearith Israel, or to the charity of one’s choice.

I knew Ms. Leaf as my patient, she was my suga Leaf sweet loving sharp, that laugh was so contagious and so loving. I enjoyed taking care of her she was the light of my day I can sit for hours talking to her about anything, Ms. Leaf was the grandmother of 6n. Stuart would come and look for us if she wasn't on 6n and let us know where she was and we would go looking for her. She was a loving person and loved everyone. Ms Leaf will surely be missed. I love you SUGA Leaf.

I knew Ms. Leaf as my patient at Piedmont but she was way more than that. She had the most beautiful, fun-loving spirit of anyone I’ve ever known. We would all congregate around in her room and just sit with her and listen to her stories and laugh!! She was hilarious and gave the best life advice. She was one in a million and I will deeply miss her! Her beautiful smile and spirit will live on forever! I love you Ms. Suga Leaf!!! ?

As a new nurse on a difficult floor, I was overwhelmed most days, but taking care of Ms Leaf made me forget about the stressors of the day. She put a smile on every single person's face that met her in the hospital. "Suga Leaf" was her nickname. All of us would gather in her room when things slowed down in the afternoon and just laugh and joke with her. She was without a doubt our favorite patient. I will always cherish the conversations about life we had during the day. Ms Leaf was an extraordinary woman and I am so incredibly thankful to have met her. I loved Ms Leaf like she was my grandmother and will miss her so much. My deepest condolences to her family.

50 plus years ago we shared a front and back Hall at 1425 Rock Springs Circle . We would see each other several times a day and evenings . You really get to know neighbors and their habits and friends. Florence loved her Family and loved her card games.

I am so sadden by this news, but also filled with great joy to have been able to have met this wonderful spirit! Ms. Leaf aka momma to me has brought me so much joy everytime I've seen her, she was one sponky lil lady that will truly be missed! Everytime she came into the office she would always get on me about how I should wear my hair or if I found a husband yet. lol... I would always tell her she needed to find me one, & she would always reply " I'm going to find you a rich one too" lol... I would always tell her that I am the one black daughter that she always wanted, & that I'm her favorite child. lol... I loved her to pieces & she will always be missed. One thaing that gives me piece within this sad news is that everytime we left, or hung up with eachother we would say " I Love You " with that being said R.I.P. momma I Love You! xoxo, Teneshia
