Emil H. Horesh at age of 83 died on April 23, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Emil was born in Tehran, Iran on June 17, 1937 to Haron and Rosa Horesh. Emil grew up in Tehran, Iran in a close and boisterous family with his many siblings, Clara, Isaac, Joseph, Morris, George and Lily. He attended the American Community School where he engaged in all sorts of antics with life long friends.

Although Emil was always full of fun and jokes, at a young age he set to work and gradually grew a prosperous import/export business and other ventures that took him on travels across Europe and Asia. In 1965, he married Yvonne (née Hagouly) and together they devoted themselves to their three children, Allen, Joseph and Cindy.

The Iranian Revolution transported the family to Atlanta. Before long, with his brothers, he founded and became the CEO of Megi Corp., which owned and operated The Linen Loft, a beloved Atlanta based retail chain selling bedding, bath, kitchen and other home goods.

Although Emil suffered the tragic loss of his son, Joseph, his admirable spirit and love of family kept him going. He spent the last 20 years in “retirement” dabbling in other investments and pursuits, including doting on his granddaughters, traveling throughout the world and spending much time in their New York City home where, among many things, he enjoyed his family, friends from childhood, soaking up city life on longs walks, the bounty of sidewalk fruit sellers (who gave him so much fruit for “next to nothing”) and all different types of restaurants (especially ones where the owners knew him by name).

Emil is survived by his devoted wife of over 55 years, Yvonne; his children and daughters-in law, Allen Horesh and Vicki Fishfader, Michelle Horesh and Cindy and Edward Schnitzer; his grandchildren, Stacy and Maya Horesh and Abby and Zoe Schnitzer; and many adored siblings, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph, and siblings Clara and Joseph.

Graveside services will be held privately for family on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 1:00pm EST. We welcome virtual attendance via Zoom link available on Dressler’s website,

Cindy is a dear friend for the last twenty-five plus years. The few occasions I met her father, Emil, were at joyous family celebrations - Cindy's wedding and Abby and Zoe's bat mitzvah celebrations - I was always struck by his dignity, vibrant energy, and humor. His capacity for love and generosity of spirit are manifest in his family, especially my lovely friend Cindy. The way Cindy spoke of her parents, I felt as though I knew them well. I know her father will be dearly missed but that his love will carry on.

I have known Cindy since college and had the good fortune of meeting Mr. Horesh a few times. His great kindness, strength, wisdom and mischievous wit was always apparent. His spirit lives on in Cindy - one of the best people I know.

Dear Horesh family: We were so sorry to hear about Emil. As I talked to him at The Breman exhibit that he and his wife contributed to along with brother Morris and wife Arlene, I could see the intense pride he had in his heritage. We hope that happy memories that you had together with him will help you through this difficult time
