Dr. Gary Laden, age 65, Roswell, died January 26, 2018. He graduated from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylania. He went on to practice for over 30 years by opening his own practice, working for Kaiser Permanente and eventually retiring at Village Podiatry. Gary was an avid fly fisherman who loved to travel the world with his wife, especially visiting the Amazon and Venezuela, as well as enjoying a good cigar with a glass of scotch. There was never a country, a place, or time where he did not make a friend. After retiring, he started a Saturday morning radio show called Smooth Draws radio show where he talked about cigars, spirits and other shenanigans with his friends. He was always making jokes, laughing and wanting to spend time with his grandchildren. They loved their Popoo so very much and always got a kick out of his sayings and making their grandma, “WeeWee” disappear. He was an incredibly kind man, a loving husband, and a fabulous stepdad and Popoo that had an even bigger heart. We will miss him more than words can express. We love you! Survivors include his loving wife of 16 years, Susan; daughter and son-in-law, Autumn and Sonny Conyers, Cartersville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Amy Kretchman, Port Hueneme, CA, brother, Scott Laden, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Ava Murphy, Noah Kretchman, John Henry Conyers. I met Gary at Puro Sabor 2017 and had dinner with him, Nick Syris and Mike Turner. I then became a fan of his radio show and looked forward to a relaxing two hours in Gary's company on Saturday afternoons. Gary's humanity and courtesy shone through his radio show and I came to think of him as a friend. He was truly a southern gentleman and will be much missed. I'll be smoking a fine cigar in his memory this weekend.

I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed my time with Gary. It was most likely skipping lectures at a local conference have some scotch and a cigar outside. May he rest in peace.

Susan, though Mary and I have moved across the country many years ago, we still have many great memories of dinners with you and Gary, along with our trusty buddy \"Don Gauthier\", as Gary called him, and his wife Barb. Also, I shared many a tall tale with Gary over a fine cigar at The Cigar Merchant. He was a true gentleman indeed! I just played one of Gary\'s favorite songs, \"All Day Music\", by the group War, in his memory. Be safe Susan. We are thinking of you!

Susan- Paula and I are so sorry for your loss. I regret that Gary and I lost touch the last couple of years, but I will always remember the wonderful trip we had in 2010 to the Mediterranean and my trip to Brazil with Gary. He was an amazing, warm, funny and generous man.

I only had the opportunity to know Gary for a short period of time, but that was all it took for me to feel like I had known him for years. I enjoyed his sense of humor and picking on me for saying "fixin'." Even when he wasn't feeling well he was still smiling and making others do the same. I had great conversations with Gary and I will never forget him. To the family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Hold on to the memories you have a re-live them as often as you can.

I met Gary back in the 80's. I was his contact with the Atlanta Bass Club. WE fished together several times in tournaments. I remember his sense of humor, he really got my jokes. The most memorable thing was when I stuck a fishing lure in his arm. He performed surgery with a razor blade in my boat to remove it. We joked about for years. Great guy, gone too soon.
