Lenora Kamer Norris, age 66 of Atlanta, died on December 8, 2012. Lenora was born in New York on February 26, 1951 to the late Michael Kamer and Fay (Orenstein) Kamer. She lived in New York City into her early twenties and took pride in calling herself a New Yorker. At 28, Lenora met and married William (Bill) Franklin Norris in Atlanta, Georiga. Lenora and Bill raised two children, Fay Ann and Josh, during their nearly 39-year marriage. Lenora was a loving teacher who had a passion for helping her students learn to read and had a meaningful impact on more children than she will ever know. She had a sharp whit, was strong willed, enjoyed laughing and above all she loved her family. She made friends everywhere she went. When Lenora was diagnosed with brain cancer at the age of 51, she did not cry or complain. She succinctly informed the doctors that she simply was not ready to depart this world. Over the course of the next 15 years of her life, she defied the doctors' expectations and chose to live the life that she wanted to live. She cherished becoming a grandmonther, watching her two children grow into adulthood, frequent chats with her brother, and plenty of time at home with her husband. Lenora is survived by her husband, Bill Norris of Atlanta; her brother, Gregory Kamer of Las Vegas; her children, Fay Ann Sherris of Atlanta and Fay's husband Scott Sherris and Josh Norris of Atlanta and Josh's wife Courtney Ferrell; her grandchildren: Ethan, Avi and Isaac Sherris of Atlanta GA. A funeral is scheduled for 2:30 PM Tuesday, December 12th at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mt Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Rabbi Joshua Heller will officiate the ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home Auxiliary, PO Box 420273, Atlanta, GA 30342. The family would like to thank everyone at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home for their incredible love, kindness and care shown to Lenora.

Fay Ann, Bill, Josh, I was so saddened to hear of Lenora\'s death and her long cancer battle. I saw her (and Bill, possibly) in the elevator at my doctor\'s office building close to John\'s Creek Emory Hospital about a year ago. When I spoke to her and called her by name, she looked surprised. But I remembered fondly her beautiful curly hair and her face. I taught kindergarten with her 1 year at Norcross Elem , then later had the privilege of teaching Fay Ann in fifth grade. Never taught Josh, but remember him also. Please find comfort in my prayers for each of you. Tough when Life is taken from us so early and young. I was not surprised to read she chose to be a fighter when she learned of her brain cancer. She seemed to be a resilent, fun loving person the years I worked with her and knew her. Remebering you all at this difficult time in your lives. Sincerely, Judy Bargainnier
